The Coro Polifonico Cremonese set up in 1968, under Mons. Dante Caifa’s direction, (organist and choirmaster at Cremona cathedral), with a view to studying and spreading chiefly Renaissance and baroque sacred polyphony.
Special attention
has been given to cremonese composers or to the ones connected with the
town of Cremona, such as Marc’Antonio Ingegneri and the famous Claudio
Monteverdi.
Forty years with and for music: a happy goal, but also a stimulus for the future, an important stage on the path to a proceeding growth. On the occasion of that important anniversary, the Association wanted to offer to the town of Cremona a Christmas present,( a book), for those who already knew the choir and wished to develop an interest in its activity.
The
book “ Il Coro Polifonico Cremonese - Quarant’anni con e per
la musica”, going over the choir’s activity again, includes
numerous essays and personal recollections, with the association
perspective of a philosophical and musical study, linked up with a
regular concert activity. Music can be considered the most metaphysical
among physical experiences and can create mind and conscience harmony by
way of sound.
